Design and handling

The first major difference lies in the approach. The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 remains a fairly compact action camera, designed for quick and easy use. Its biggest advantage is its 2.5-inch flip-out touchscreen. For vlogging, facing-the-camera videos, travel footage, or shooting at arm’s length, it’s incredibly practical.

Sensor: 1 inch versus 1/1.3 inch

Stabilization: FlowState vs. HyperSmooth

Regarding stabilization, there are two market leaders. The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 uses FlowState stabilization with 360° horizon lock. The GoPro Mission 1 uses HyperSmooth, also with 360° horizon lock.

In both cases, you can expect excellent stabilization for walking, running, filming while cycling, motorcycling, skiing, or hiking. At this level, the main difference will come down to individual preference and editing workflow.

Audio: clear advantage to the GoPro Mission 1

Battery life and charging

The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 features an 1800 mAh battery with very efficient fast charging: approximately 18 minutes to reach 80% and 47 minutes for a full charge.

The GoPro Mission 1 offers a 2150 mAh Enduro battery, so it’s larger, but with a slightly slower charging time: about 27 minutes to reach 80% and 60 minutes for a full charge with a PPS compatible charger.

Waterproofing and resistance

For water resistance, the GoPro Mission 1 scores a major point with a claimed waterproof rating of 20 meters without a housing. This is very convenient for filming at the beach, while snorkeling, in the rain, or in challenging conditions.

The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is waterproof to 12 meters without a housing, which is already very good for an action camera. With the dive housing, it can go up to 60 meters, making it very appealing to divers.

Application, editing and workflow

This is probably one of the biggest selling points of the Insta360 Ace Pro 2. Its app is designed for speed: automatic editing, creative effects, AI assistant, and easy export for social media. For a creator who wants to film, edit, and publish quickly, it’s a real boon.

The GoPro Mission 1 seems more geared towards advanced workflows: GP-Log2, HLG HDR, multitrack audio, high bitrate, built-in GPS, GoPro cloud. It’s excellent if you enjoy editing your files. But for someone who simply wants to quickly produce a video, it might seem less straightforward.
