The X6 doesn&#8217;t change the philosophy of the 360\u00b0 camera. You still film everything around you, then choose the framing during editing. However, it makes this principle easier to exploit. This choice was intentional: it puts both models on equal footing. In bright light, the X5 already produces a very convincing image. It remains perfectly capable of providing a clean shot for YouTube, a Reel, or a travel memory.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the X6 provides an image that looks sharper after reframing. This is important with a 360\u00b0 camera: the final video only keeps a part of what the camera recorded. The more detailed the source file, the more you can tighten the frame without seeing the image fall apart. The ability to film in 8K at 50 fps also gives more flexibility for fast-paced scenes.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/droneandcam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/X6-Road-Cycling-Black-1.jpg\" alt=\"Insta360 X6 used during a bike ride\" class=\"wp-image-48315\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 id=\"h-la-vraie-evolution-la-video-en-basse-lumiere\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The real evolution: low-light video<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the section that mattered most to me. I waited until night to film with both cameras in 360\u00b0 and single-lens mode, with PureVideo enabled. The X5 uses PureVideo 1.0. The X6 moves to PureVideo 2.0. The result isn&#8217;t magic, but the difference is clear: the X6 shows less digital noise and preserves useful details better.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For filming a lit street, a lingering sunset, or an indoor scene, the X6 is therefore more reliable. It won&#8217;t replace a large camera in a nearly black room. However, it more often avoids the grainy look that forces you to scrap a shot. If you mostly shoot during the day, this point alone doesn&#8217;t necessarily justify replacing the X5. If you regularly film at twilight, it can clearly tip the scales.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"h-mode-mono-objectif-un-peu-plus-de-liberte-sur-la-x6\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Single-lens mode: a bit more freedom on the X6<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both cameras can serve as classic action cams using a single lens. I tested this mode in 4K at 30 frames per second. The X6 also offers a mode up to 5K at 60 fps, in addition to 4K at 120 fps. This gives an extra option when you want a direct shot without going through 360\u00b0 reframing.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In practice, I would stick to 360\u00b0 for an outing where you need to capture everything, like cycling or traveling. Single-lens makes more sense when the framing is obvious and you want to speed up the editing process. There was a bit of wind during the test. The voice comes through better on the X6 and the wind noise is less overpowering. It&#8217;s a useful improvement for quick, candid clips.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, we have to be realistic. No built-in mic replaces a wireless mic for an important vlog or an interview. Both models can be supplemented with the <a href=\"https:\/\/droneandcam.com\/en\/post\/how-to-use-the-insta360-mic-pro-with-an-insta360-camera\/\">Insta360 Mic Pro<\/a>. Yet, it&#8217;s one of the things I noticed immediately. The X6&#8217;s 2.32-inch OLED screen makes menus more readable and navigation faster. When you&#8217;re frequently switching modes between shots, this comfort saves you from wasting time.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The X6 also has 64 GB of internal storage. Insta360 states that about 47 GB is actually usable. That&#8217;s enough as a backup, but not for filming a whole day in 8K. A fast microSD remains essential. The battery increases to 2,600 mAh and Insta360 claims up to 140 minutes in 8K30.
