Getting paid for a drone job doesn\u2019t automatically move the flight into the Specific category.<\/strong> In Europe, the category depends on the risk of the scenario: area, distance from people, altitude, drone, visibility, and flight path. A simple professional shoot can therefore fall under the Open category if all its limits are respected. <\/p>\n

Open, Specific or Certified: the quick answer<\/h2>\n

  • Open<\/strong>: low-risk flights, leisure and many simple commercial jobs, with no prior authorization if the limits are respected.<\/li>\n
  • Specific<\/strong>: an operation that exceeds the Open limits: beyond visual line of sight, riskier environment, close to people, or a particular scenario.<\/li>\n
  • Certified<\/strong>: high-risk operations, comparable to manned aviation; this is not the case for a typical shoot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
