All rules, registrations, and permits are processed through this entity. It is essential to consult their official website for the most up-to-date information before your departure.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-l-enregistrement-une-etape-obligatoire\">Registration: A Mandatory Step<\/h2>\n\n<p>This is the most important point to remember: almost all drones must be registered. The main rule is that any drone weighing <strong>500 grams or more<\/strong> must be registered with the SHGM. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For Turkish residents:<\/strong> Registration is done online via a dedicated portal, requiring a Turkish national identification number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For tourists and foreigners:<\/strong> This is where the procedure becomes complicated. The online system is difficult to access without residency in Turkey. It is often necessary to go through a Turkish entity or company to register on your behalf. Entering the country with a drone weighing more than 500g is strongly discouraged without having clarified this procedure beforehand. Drones are frequently inspected and detained at customs if they are not accompanied by the correct documentation.    <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Drones weighing less than 500g are generally exempt from this registration requirement, but must still comply with all other flight rules.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-les-categories-de-drones-en-turquie\">Drone Categories in T\u00fcrkiye<\/h2>\n\n<p>SHGM classifies drones (called IHA in Turkish) into several categories according to their maximum takeoff weight:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>IHA0:<\/strong> 500 g to 4 kg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IHA1:<\/strong> 4 kg to 25 kg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IHA2:<\/strong> 25 kg to 150 kg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IHA3:<\/strong> Over 150 kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The majority of recreational drones (like those in the <a href=\"https:\/\/droneandcam.com\/en\/post\/how-do-i-prevent-the-dji-osmo-360-from-fogging-up\/\">DJI<\/a> Mavic, Mini or Air series) fall into the IHA0 or IHA1 category.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-regles-generales-de-vol-a-respecter\">General Flight Rules to be Observed<\/h2>\n\n<p>Once your drone is registered (if necessary), you must comply with strict flight rules to ensure everyone&#8217;s safety:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Visual line of sight flight:<\/strong> You must always keep your drone in direct visual contact (VLOS &#8211; Visual Line of Sight).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maximum altitude:<\/strong> Do not exceed 120 meters (approximately 400 feet) above the ground.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flight times:<\/strong> Flights are only permitted during the day, from sunrise to sunset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Safety distance:<\/strong> It is forbidden to fly over people or crowds. Maintain a safe horizontal distance. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respect for privacy:<\/strong> Do not film people and private property without their explicit consent.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-les-zones-d-interdiction-de-vol-no-fly-zones\">No-Fly Zones<\/h2>\n\n<p>Turkey has numerous areas where drone flights are <strong>strictly prohibited<\/strong> . These areas are actively monitored and violations are severely punished. They include:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Near <strong>airports<\/strong> (usually within a 9 km radius).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Military zones and strategic bases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Government buildings and prisons.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Major historical and archaeological sites (such as Ephesus, G\u00f6bekli Tepe, etc.) are not accessible except with special permission, which is very difficult to obtain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some national parks and nature reserves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusion-prudence-et-preparation\">Conclusion: Caution and Preparation<\/h2>\n\n<p>Flying a drone in Turkey is possible but requires careful preparation. The legislation is designed to ensure safety and protect sensitive sites. The main obstacle for travelers is the registration procedure for drones weighing over 500g. If you have a lighter drone, the requirements are less stringent, but the flight rules remain the same.
